Organdy, its features and uses
Organdy is a light weighted, sheer cotton fabric developed with a plain weave and finest quality, tighly twisted yarn. It has crispy and stiff kind of drape which might be pleated, shirred or gathered into bouffant fullness. It can be used along with a fabric or singularly for adding loft and fullness. The fabric can be easily crushed and also can get wrinkles, it has the potential of getting smoothed just with a hot iron.
Somehow, the organdy fabric is confused with another fabric named organza, which is plain, sheer and crisp weave fabric developed of silk and man-made fibers.
Characteristic features of organdy fabric

Fabric’s crispness is the result of their finishing with starch and even calendaring that washes or Herberlin process, permanent crispness which is obtained throught the use of chemicals. Somehow, the fabric gets wrinkled badly till the moment is not prone to bellmanizing which is the process of giving a wrinkle-free finish. It can be dyed, bleached, embroidered, flocked, frosted, plisse or printed.
